The Fairfax County Special Education PTA Award recognizes outstanding achievement in supporting students with disabilities and learning differences in Fairfax County Public Schools. Melissa Sheedy (Outstanding Special Education PreK Teacher), Monica Pelzer (Outstanding Special Education Teacher), and Cassandra Scotto (Outstanding Special Education Teacher ) have all been nominated for the 2020-2021 award in recognition of their amazing work with supporting students during the 2019-2020 school year. Mrs. Erica Kraft has also been nominated for the Community Champion for Special Education award. In addition, one of our students, Abbie Bachmore, received the Student who Most Supports Inclusion Award. In honor of Abbie Bachmore, FCPS SEPTA has decided to rename this award the Abbie Bachmore Memorial Inclusion Award. Fairfax County Special Education PTA (SEPTA) is a PTA affiliated with Fairfax County Council of PTAs, Virginia State PTA, and National PTA. It is an all volunteer, non-profit membership organization with 501(c)(3) status that advocates for all students with disabilities in Fairfax County, as well as for the teachers and staff who with them.
