Ms. Pelzer Recognized by FCPS
January 2021 Region 3 FCPS Cares of the Month Recipient
Congratulations to resource teacher Monica Pelzer on being recognized as the 2021 January FCPS Cares Recipient of the Month for Region 3 by the Department of Human Resources. Congratulations, Ms. Pelzer!

"Monica is my son's second-grade resource teacher, but she is so much more than that! During this pandemic, everything as a person, professional, and a parent is so much harder, and she is a shining light that helps me get through this day by day. Monica works so well with her students. I am amazed at how much my son has grown academically, especially in light of the challenging virtual learning environment. It is all due to Ms. Monica. She is so patient with all of her students. She also adjusts her teaching style to each individual student's needs, which is not commonplace this day. She also takes into consideration the fact that my husband and I work full time and cannot give our son the assistance he needs all the time and steps up when we can't. She is amazing and a saint and I just think the world of her. She advocates for her students and their families. We are so blessed to have her in our lives. Thank you, Ms. Monica!"

"One benefit of virtual learning is getting a sneak peek into the classroom and getting to see some of the amazing strategies our teachers use - especially with students who have additional needs. Ms. Monica blows us away every day- she somehow has connected with students in such a way that without even seeing them, she knows what they need at just the right time. She is gentle, calm, and patient yet always remains in control of every small group. Ms. Monica is able to explain any lesson in all subjects in a way that connects with the students. When she senses that the students just need more time, she quickly pivots and gets the students what they need. Our student has received such focused assistance and instruction - we can't even imagine what would have happened if they were in-person. Ms. Monica is an amazing, talented, caring educator. We feel like we cannot share how much we are in awe and appreciate her enough."
