Military Families
Welcome Military and Government Service Families! We are so glad you’re here! For district-wide enrollment information, please scroll to the bottom of the page.
Our Stratford Landing Military Support Group provides military and government service families a place to connect and offers support to new families entering SLES. We are an all-inclusive group for active, retired, reserve, and deceased military families or anyone who has an interest in the purpose of our group. We work to help ease the stress that transition and deployment have on military children and their families.
Stratford Landing is recognized as a Purple Star School. The Virginia Purple Star Designation is awarded to military-friendly schools that have demonstrated a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. This commitment is evident as we strengthen relationships through our quarterly coffee meetups, military lunch bunches, and after-school activities. Activities surrounding Veterans Day in November and Month of the Military Child in April are two ways military students are recognized by the entire school.

Student Ambassador Program
We are excited to launch our Military Student Ambassadors Program this fall. The Student Ambassador Programs are school-based student leadership programs that bring together military and civilian peers to support all students' transition to school, helping create an accepting school culture and welcoming environment. At SLES, a Student Ambassador is a student (4th-6th grade) from a military family. A Student Ambassador is a peer leader who shows a commitment to helping and serving others.
Student Ambassadors should exemplify:
- Leadership skills
- Positive personality
- Ability to lead and follow
- Clear communication skills
- Professionalism
SLES Student Ambassadors will:
- Provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the new student
- Meet and greet new students
- Conduct school tours to new military families and students during visits to the school
- Frequent check in with new students to ensure they are adjusting well
